Meet Dr. John Rindy:

John, who is a career, labor market and student success researcher at heart, serves as Assistant Vice President for a group of offices at Slippery Rock University known collectively as the Center for Career and Academic Progress. John has been at SRU for nearly 11 years. Prior to SRU, he served as Dean of Educational Outreach at Thiel College, where he oversaw several areas including career services and internships. He was also a part-time instructor at Youngstown State for 18 years. The first 20 years of his career were spent in the corporate and non-profit world, including 12 years as a project manager for Fortune 500, Corning Corporation, and several years as CEO of Primecare Nevada, a nonprofit rural hospital and primary care company. On the personality scale, John is an ambivert – he is situated between an extrovert and an introvert. He likes to say “I am definitely not an extrovert, but most people think I am. In my experience, extroversion can actually be learned, like a foreign language, but like any foreign language, it has taken time and effort, but the best part is, I’m still me – I don’t try to be someone else – I’ve just gotten really skilled at speaking a language that is not my native language.” John is well known among SRU faculty, staff, students and alumni, and embraces the moniker that students awarded him several years ago – “The Bald Career Guy” – but he is best known for his frequent career one-liners such as “You’re either networking or you’re not working.”
